Why am I running?
City government is wasting our money. They tore down a perfectly good convention center based on a bad financial report. They are buying expensive trains, when high-speed buses would have half the cost per passenger-mile. They are forcing every Austinite to pay $240 in interest every year because they borrowed billions from the pension fund.
Michael Nahas would rather be swimming at Barton Springs but he's running for Austin City Council District 1 because he's fed up and has the skills to fix this. He has a Masters in Economics from UT-Austin and made money working as a stock trader. With his finances secure, he's worked to improve others. He volunteered with success on another financial issue — lowering the rent in Austin.
City Council doesn't have a financial expert and it shows. Austin can improve its government's finances and every family's finances. Vote for Michael Nahas and let Austin get its money's worth.
